Saints stopped two bad streaks Sunday

The Saukville Saints’ 23-inning scoreless streak to start the season ended on Sunday, and so did their three-game losing streak in comeback fashion.

The Rock River adult league baseball team beat the visiting Slinger Stingers, 8-6, at Fred Junie Dickmann Field.

The Saints trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the eighth when their offense got going.

Alex Elenteny doubled and scored on a fielding error. Peyton Anderson walked, and Brendon Zimdars followed with an RBI single. Brody Kraus was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brayden Oelhafan Connor Wojciechowski both walked, bringing in two runs.

A Simon Bares’ single scored two, and another double by Elenteny scored another two.

The Stingers came back with one in the ninth before the Saints closed the game.

Elenteny lead the Saints with four hits. Cole Bzdawka went the distance, allowing 10 hits, six runs, whiffing eight and walking three to get the win.

Last Saturday, the Hustisford Astros beat the Saints in Saukville, 9-0.

The Saints had four hits, one each by Bares, Bzdawka, Brian Hirschinger and Steve Dickmann. Wojciechowski allowed five hits and four runs, walking five and whiffing five in four innings. Hirschinger allowed five hits and three runs, walking and whiffing two each in three innings. Austin Huber allowed six hits and two runs, striking out one and walking one in two innings.

The Saints lost the Rock River League Northern Division season opener, 10-0, in seven innings on May 24 in Cedarburg.

The Saints had three hits, one each by Chase Kroening, Brendon Zimdars and Kraus. Wojciechowski allowed five hits and seven runs (five earned), while striking out three, walking five and hitting one in 2-1/3 innings. Bzdawka allowed five hits and three runs (one earned) while whiffing six in 4-1/3 innings.

The Saints lost, 12-0, at Neosho of the Rock River League Southern Division on April 26.

The Saints play at Kewaskum A’s on Sunday, June 7.
