Saints end season with blowout

The Saukville Saints’ season came to a rough close at home on Sunday.

The Cedarburg Mercs beat the Saints, 14-2, in eight innings via the 10-run mercy rule.

The Mercs only scored runs in four innings, but put up a crooked number in each.

They jumped out to the lead with a two-run homer by Hayden Krimmer in the first inning. Six hits in the second inning helped plate four runs, including two on a double by James Dunne.

Two walks and four hits helped score five runs in the fifth ining. Lucas Bork had a two-run double.

The Saints got on the board in the sixth inning. Simon Bares and Mike Mueller walked, and Aaron Brockman and Mike Sherrick each had RBI singles.

The Mercs scored three runs in the eighth inning on an error, single, walk and a double by Ethan Ehlers.

Bork, Krimmer, Ehlers and Charlie O’Conner each had two hits for the Mercs.

Ehlers allowed two earned runs, four hits and five walks in six innings, whiffing nine in earning the win. Dunne and Sam Spaude eached pitched a scoreless inning.

Sherrick allowed 11 earned runs on 11 hits, walking three and whiffing four in five innings.

Bares allowed three unearned runs and three hits with four walks in three innings.

The Saints finished 1-17, losing 13 games by at least 10 runs.
