Ruby P. Hamerlind

Ms. Ruby Hamerlind of Port Washington, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Harbor Cove.  She was 81 years old.

Ruby was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Oct. 12, 1940, the daughter of William and Ruby (nee Sample) Marcum.

She grew up in northeast Minneapolis and attended Edison High School. Later in life, she went back to school at Inver Hills Community College, where she majored in Tudor history and social services.

Ruby was an area director for Volunteers of America for many years. After her retirement, she managed her own rental properties.

In 2006, she moved to Port Washington to be closer to her family.

Ruby enjoyed reading, especially history, and loved watching old movies and doing projects at her properties.   

Ruby is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Hamerlind, Bonnie (Brian) Boettcher and Beth Hamerlind.   

She is further survived by five grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Shannon, Adam and Ashley; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Easton, Evan, Leo, Michael and James; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A celebration of Ruby’s life was to take place on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice (ssrhospicehome.org/online-donation).
