Roy Wegner
Roy J. Wegner, 71, of Grafton, died of lung cancer at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington on Friday, Sept. 14.
Mr. Wegner was born in Grafton on Aug. 25, 1947, to Roy and Doris Wendtlandt Wegner.
He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. His family said he was thankful to the VA and all the services it provided for him.
He worked for many years at a number of factories in the Port Washington area.
His passion was golfing, and he worked at Edgewater Golf Course in Grafton for many years. Meeting friends at Edgewater and Willies Wish tavern in Port Washington was a favorite pastime along with meeting his sisters every Saturday morning to visit and eat doughnuts, his family said.
He was also an avid Wisconsin sports fan.
Mr. Wegner is survived by his wife Sharon of Grafton; daughter Lindsey (Laurne Ling) Wegner of Oregon; brother Chuck of Townsend; and sisters Beverly Wegner, Judy (William) Steinert and Kristi (Mike) Mullens, all of Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Debbie Domine.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Mueller Funeral Home in Grafton.
Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 1:15 p.m.
Memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice are suggested.
