Robert W. ‘Bob’ Lederer

Mr. Robert Lederer of Waubeka passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at Forest Haven Assisted Living Center in Fredonia, where he had been a resident.  He was 86 years old.

Bob was born on the family farm in Mequon on March 30, 1936, the son of Roland and Esther (nee Geier) Lederer.

He grew up in Mequon and graduated from Cedarburg High School with the Class of 1954.

After high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably until his discharge.

After returning home, he married Sandra Tyczynski on Sept. 5, 1959, in Mequon. In 1965 the couple moved to Waubeka to raise their family.

Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator for HF Prahl Corp. in Germantown for 40-plus years.

In 1971, he joined the Waubeka Fire Department, rising to the rank of assistant chief, and he was the fire inspector for both the Waubeka and Boltonville fire departments.

He was a longtime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newburg. Bob also enjoyed fishing, yard work and working in his garage.

Bob is survived by his children Jeanne (Warren) Buchholz, Jacqueline (Glenn) Buchholz, Hans (Stacy) Lederer and Ross (Amy) Lederer.

He is further survived by eight grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Carisa, Mick, Taylor, Jamie, Amanda and Jimmy; 11 great-grandchildren, Naomi, Damian, Natalie, Isabella, Declan, Bennett, Blake, Gracie, Emmett, Mia and Jade; his sister Carolyn (Ron) Verfuerth; sisters-in-law Sandra Lederer and Jeanie Lederer; brother-in-law Dennis (Dorene) Tyczynski; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandy; siblings Dorothy (Don) Geib, Harvey (LeNae) Lederer, Ralph Lederer, Rosemary (Ken) Wilhelme, George (Pat) Lederer and Fred Lederer; and his brother-in-law Michael “Black Mike” Tyczynski.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 623 Congress Dr., Newburg.  The Rev. Kurt Schaser will preside over the service.

A visitation will take place at the church on Friday, Jan. 6, from 10 a.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Newburg.
