Robert Michael Roob

Robert Michael Roob died peacefully on May 29, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Grafton. He was a good man, a fine husband and devoted father.

Bob was born June 19, 1938, to the late Hilbert and Theresa (Miller) Roob and was a lifelong Port Washington resident.

Following graduation from Port Washington High School in 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years.

Bob was employed in 1962 by Freeman Chemical, Saukville, and worked continuously until his retirement in 1999. Over the course of his 37-year career, he served as production scheduler and later traveled to other plants to conduct safety training and inspections for OSHA standards.

Following retirement from Freeman, Bob served as a courier for Harris Bank, drove transportation vehicles for Ohana and Newcastle and was a motorcycle safety instructor and member of the Port Washington Police Department auxiliary police. He was most recently a crossing guard for the city. Many will remember him smiling and waving as they passed his corner.

Bob was an auto and motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed customization and adding his individual flair. He recently pinstriped a riding lawn mower.

He and his wife Barb enjoyed traveling, reading and jigsaw puzzles. Bob could also polka.

He was thrilled to be a part of the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight last May, especially because he went with his lifelong best friend Ken Miller. Bob and Ken enlisted in the army together.

Those mourning his death include his wife Barbar,a whom he married on Aug. 16, 1961, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with four fine sons, Timothy, Christopher, Benjamin and Eric (Erin Clancy). Four grandchildren will forever miss their Papa: Benjamin, Cameron, Hailey and Travis.

Bob is further survived by his loving sister Joanne (Harry) Mayer, niece Tracy Machaj (Ron), sister-in-law Rosemary (Jerry) Marciniak, nephew Nathan Marciniak, many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his nephew Scott Mayer, niece Kelly (Mayer) Sullivan and daughter-in-law Lauren (Sorchy) Roob.
