Robert “Bob” Leider
Robert “Bob” Leider of Random Lake, known to many as “Meats” or “Bubba,” passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. He was 74 years old.
Bob was born in Port Washington on March 14, 1950, the son of Gregory and Laverne (nee Lauters) Leider.
He grew up in Fredonia and graduated from Ozaukee High School with the Class of 1968.
After high school, Bob served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974.
On March 8, 1969, he married Verna Klas at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Fredonia. Through their 55 years of marriage, their children and grandchildren felt blessed to have witnessed the true meaning of marriage with the loving care that Verna provided to Bob during his sickness.
Bob was a longtime and dedicated employee at Times Printing in Random Lake for more than 35 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Random Lake, a longtime member of the Random Lake Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Random Lake Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT, and also served as secretary for 10 years.
Bob had a deep love of the outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and taking care of his dogs. He cherished moments with his family, especially his nine grandchildren. Bob loved to listen to old time country music, drinking Old Style and eating Big Boy burgers.
Bob is survived by his wife Verna and his three children, Robert A. Leider, Chris (Erik) Kammann and John (Angie) Leider.
He is further survived by nine grandchildren, Allison Holzmann, Raechel (Tyler) Siegel, Emily Holzmann, Sidney Kammann, Jessica, R.J., Trevor, Chief and Vella Leider; siblings Allan Leider and Linda (Dave) Baardseth; his godchildren Joe Fahney and Anne Rosso; brothers and sisters-in-law Jean (the late Robert) Klas Sr., Joannes Klas, Lois (the late Bill) Lawton, Roseann (Tom) Watry, Jean (the late John) Klas, Ivan (Louise) Klas, Laura (Walter) Weyker and Peter (Sue) Klas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, and his constant companion G-Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents Greg and Laverne, brothers Dennis, Daniel and Paul, his in-laws John and Martha Klas, and brothers and sisters-in-law William (Laurene) Klas and Patricia (Dale) Croatt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Chapel, Random Lake. Visitation will take place from 2 to 3:45 p.m., with the Mass at 4 p.m. Father Donald Thimm will preside over the Mass.
Bob will be laid to rest at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Fredonia with military honors.
