Robert ‘Bob’ V. Filetti Sr.
Robert V. Filetti Sr., of Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of Port Washington and Sussex, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach. He was 76 years old.
Bob was born in Cook County, Ill., on May 10, 1943, the son of John Filetti and Mary Sroka Filetti.
Shortly after Bob was born, the family moved to Milwaukee. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee with the Class of 1961.
After high school, Bob honorably served his country with the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany at Ramstein AFB.
After being discharged in 1965, he moved back to Milwaukee, where he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ernster. The couple were married on Feb. 19, 1966, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Parish.
Mr. Filetti worked as a lithographer for various printing companies, including Continental Can Co., Inland Press and A to Z Printing. After retiring in 2008, Bob found his second career as a groundskeeper for Silver Spring Golf Course, retiring full-time in 2012 when he and Liz decided it was time to move to Florida.
Bob was a longtime member of St. Peter of Alcantara Parish in Port Washington. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and the Green Bay Packers. Bob’s true love was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was able to create a unique and special relationship with each of his 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Elizabeth of Vero Beach, Fla. He will be missed by his four dear children, Christine McCoy of Tampa, Fla., Jo Ann (Tom) Ross of Port Washington, the late Angela Beschta and Robert (Claudine) Filetti Jr. of Greendale.
He was a proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, the late Daniel McCoy Jr., Derrick (Caitlin) McCoy, Darcy (Roger) Pare, Gina, Carly and Caden McCoy, Jordan, Bradley and Brandon Beschta, Lauren (Mark) Allen, Alyssa (Eric) Logisz, Charlie and Mikey Ross and Madeline and Tyler Filetti.
He is further survived by eight great-grandchildren, Kendall, Mason and Riley Allen, Shelby and Marley McCoy, Greyson, Jameson and Sophia Pare; son-in-law Brian Beschta; two sisters, Joan (Steven) Wenzel and Mary Lynn (John) Burtch; sisters-in-law Marilyn LaLonde, Barbara (George) Preo, Catherine (Ron) Deschane and Christine (Larry) Goldstein; brothers-in-law Michael (Lorraine) Ernster and Richard Ernster; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and many, many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Angela, his grandson Daniel McCoy Jr. and his brother Alan Filetti.
Funeral services will be celebrated at St. John XXIII Parish at a later date. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
