The downtown Saukville “bank” building has been sold to a couple who own two pizza restaurants in West Bend and Kewaskum.

According to Ozaukee County Register of Deeds records, Michael and Deborah Herbert, who own the two Michaleno’s Pizzarias, bought the distinctive brick building on the village triangle at 234 Dekorah St. at the end of July for $92,900 from E-Collectique, a luxury resale clothing store owned by Mikelle Flanner of Grafton, that used to occupy the site.

E-Collectique has since moved to Thiensville.

According to the Michaleno’s website, the Herberts have operated the two restaurants since 2008 with their sons Mike, Ryan, Greg and Dan. Michael and Deborah were vacationing this week, their son, Dan Herbert, said and could not be reached for comment.

He confirmed they had purchased the property, which once was a bank, but said it hadn’t been decided whether the building would be another pizzaria location.

“It’s something we’re putting in the thought process,” he said.

Flanner said the location is good for business, despite the apparent lack of parking for that location.

Parking “was never an issue for us,” Flanner said. “Our business grew very rapidly in that location.”

Prior to E-Collectique, a pizza restaurant was located in the building.

Saukville Chamber Executive Director Mike Cosgrove said another pizza establishment would be welcome.

“I think as Saukville continues to grow and expand, and as word gets out about what a great, safe and business-friendly place Saukville is, more and more businesses are going to be coming into our area,” he said.

“A great pizza place will always do well.”
