Residents asked to help name Fredonia village park

Village officials are asking for suggestions on what to name a park on Fredonia’s east side.

The one-acre park — which is bounded by Fredonia Avenue on the south, Regal Drive on the south and west and the post office on the east — was donated by the Emmer family some years ago to the Northern Ozaukee School District, which later sold it to the village.

The site was rezoned from business to parks several years ago.

The park is largely just grass-covered open space now, but plans call for erecting a colorful pavilion there this year and installing walkways.

Trustee Jill Bertram, who chairs the village Parks Committee, last week proposed soliciting ideas for naming the park from residents.

Trustee TJ Meyers-Jansky suggested the park name have some historical significance but no vote was taken.

Residents interested in suggesting a name for the park should call Village Hall at 692-9125.
