Registrations being taken for return of Frebeka 5 run, walk

Registrations are being accepted for the Frebeka 5 Run and Walk event that will be held Saturday, Sept. 18.

A five-mile run, two-mile run and one- and two-mile walks will all begin at 8:30 a.m. near the shelter in Waubedonia Park, W1155 Fredonia Ave.

The event, which was not held last year due to the pandemic, is being coordinated by the Fredonia Lions Club.

A kids’ one-mile fun run and walk will begin in the same location at 9:30 a.m.

Runners and walkers must register online at www.runsignup.com/Race/WI/Fredonia/Frebeka5FamilyHealthChallenge.

Early entry fees are $25 for adults and $10 for kids. On race day, fees increase to $30 for adults and $15 for kids.

The first 100 participants will each receive a commemorative long-sleeve shirt featuring a design by artist Lynne Bergschultz.

Age groups for the five- and two-mile races include 13 and under, 14 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79 and 80 and older for both males and females.

Trophies will be awarded for best overall time for males and females. Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers.

A team trophy will also be awarded to the high school with the most students participating in a race.

All profits from the event will be donated by the club to Blind Outdoor Leisure Development, Lion sight, hearing, diabetes and childhood cancer  projects and Sirona Recovery.

All runs will be chip timed by Silver Circle Race Timing.
