Registration open for youth plein air contest
The annual Youth Plein Air Art Contest sponsored by the Cedarburg Cultural Center will be held Thursday, June 11, through Tuesday, June 23.
The competition is an opportunity for artists ages 17 and younger to explore the beauty of Ozaukee County while creating original works of art in the open air.
Young artists can paint historic landmarks, landscapes, waterfront views and streetscapes using brushes, pencils, pastels and more.
Each participant receives a stamped canvas to use in the competition.
Their completed canvasses will be displayed at the Cedarburg Cultural Center from June 26 through July 11. An awards ceremony will be at 5:30 p.m. July 1.
Awards will be presented for artists 5 and younger, ages 6 to 8, 9 to 12 and 13 to 17.
A People’s Choice Award will also be presented with members of the public voting on the canvasses before July 1.
All entries will be judged on creativity, technique and interpretation of the plein air experience.
The entry fee is $13 per child.
Rules and registration forms are available at the cultural center or online at www.cedarburgculturalcenter.org/ypa-info.
