RaNae J. Godejohn

One of Heaven’s angels was called back home on May 1, 2024, at age 80.
RaNae J. Godejohn (nee Blilie) of Grafton was born on Sept. 3, 1943, in Moorhead, Minn., to parents Eleanor and Clarence Blilie.
She grew up in Comstock, Minn., with her nine siblings.
She married Dayle Godejohn on Aug. 28, 1965, and moved to Milwaukee, Wis., later settling in Fredonia, Wis., with their three children, Darwin, Michael and DeAnn.
Dayle preceded RaNae in death in 1985.
Family introduced her to Dale Bruening in 1988. The two started dating and have been partners in life ever since. They moved to Grafton, Wis., and spent many wonderful years working in their yard and beautiful gardens together.
She was employed by Christopher Doerr for many years.
Chris, Julie and the family cherished her and considered her family.
RaNae’s first love has always been family. She was never happier than when she was with her children, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to cook and all were spoiled with delicious meals and baking. RaNae always went out of her way to make holidays and birthdays special.
She was ever the definition of selfless, always giving of herself to family and friends whenever needed. Her last three years were very challenging for her health-wise, but no matter how she felt for the day, she always had a warm smile on her face when family or friends came over. Even at the end, she was more concerned about the loved ones left behind than herself.
RaNae is survived by her loving partner Dale Bruening; her children Darwin (Kelly), Michael and DeAnn (Rich) Sternhagen; her seven grandkids, Allison, Jacob (Katie), Chelsea, Nicholas, Owen (Taylor), Abigail and Lucille; and her four great-grandkids, Blakelynn, Braden, Ella and Ryleigh.
She is further survived by her siblings Shirley Wolf, Janice Albers, Gerald Blilie, Linda Albers, Everett (Julie) Blilie and Luther (Shelly) Blilie.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Dayle and siblings Larry Blilie, Gary Blilie and Curtis Blilie.
We were blessed to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling and friend here on earth. She touched so many lives and will be dearly missed by all.
Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg has been assisting the family.
A celebration of life is being planned for Saturday, June 29, 2024, with details to be announced.
