Raising awareness of elder abuse

Three hundred sixty-two colorful pinwheels — one for each referral for potential elder abuse received by the Ozaukee County Human Services Department last year — were placed in planters along Grand Avenue adjacent to the Ozaukee County Administration Center parking lot in Port Washington last week in preparation for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which is June 15. The number of referrals, and pinwheels, decreased slightly in 2022 compared to 2021. Placing the pinwheels in the planter were (from left) Jane Miller, Tiffany Graziano, Lauren Peterson and Katie McCormick. Photo by Sam Arendt
