Rain, Twins’ pitcher stop Saints’ offense

The Saukville Saints lost a rain-shortened pitchers duel to the Thiensville-Mequon Twins Sunday in Mequon.
The Twins won, 1-0, in 4-2/3 innings.
The Saints’ starter Tom Hartwick pitched the entire game and allowed one run on seven hits. He walked one, whiffed one and hit a batter.
Twins’ starter Cade Berendt tossed a no-hitter in his five innings of work. He walked one batter and struck out seven.
The Twins scored in the fourth inning. Tyler Goss singled, and, after an out, Ryan Worm singled. Casey Mir was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
An infield grounder by Alec Tomkiewicz was nearly turned into a double play, but ended up scoring the game’s only run.
The Twins moved to 4-3 while the Saints fell to 1-7 in the Rock River League.
The Saints host the Oakfield Oaks (3-5) at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
