Quilt museum has a research library

The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts now has a research library that’s open to the public.

Volunteers have been working for the past few years to create the library that includes the many books that have been donated to the museum.

The library includes books on quilting, history, needlepoint, embroidery and other fiber arts.

Books cannot be checked out, but they may be used at the museum.

The library will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month for browsing and research. A volunteer will be available to assist and answer questions.

The April Fiber Club meeting will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20.

Those attending are encouraged to bring any project in the planning stages or in progress.

Club members enjoy sewing, knitting, quilting, mending, embroidery, tatting, weaving and needlepoint. They offer feedback and encouragement to others, as well as tips and new techniques.

Sewing supplies, irons, large worktables and coffee are available for club members to use.

The Fabulous Fads gallery talk with Carol Butzke will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

Butzke is co-curator of the exhibit and will lead participants on a tour of the museum and a trunk show of items from her personal collection.

The talk is $25 for museum members and $30 for nonmembers.

The museum is at N50 W5050 Portland Rd., Cedarburg.

It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
