Port tennis goes 1-3 in NSC tournament

The North Shore Conference closed out the regular tennis season with four dual matches on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 instead of a traditional tournament, and the Port Washington High School tennis team managed to snag one more victory.
The Pirates beat West Bend West, 7-0.
At No. 1 singles, Kaylee Doll beat Jordan Rivera, 7-6, 6-3.
At No. 2, Zaara Rehman beat Kayla Lemens, 7-6, 7-6.
At No. 3, Madelyn Hughes beat Sydney Brennan, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 4, Ally Schueller beat Jeanie Elsen, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 1 doubles, Ashey Zygowski and Tess Schueller beat Evareesa Widowski and Kate Nielson, 6-1, 7-5.
At No. 2, Hope Christiansen and JoJo Czarnecki beat Ashyln Muller and Emily Rauch, 7-5, 6-4.
At No. 3, Gaby Ortiz and Grace Neitzke beat Sa’mala Evans and Katelyn Bennett, 6-2, 6-2.
Port lost to Nicolet, 7-0, with Zygowski and Schueller the only ones to take a set, losing 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.
Slinger beat Port, 6-1. Zygowski and Schueller won their match, 7-5, 6-2.
Whitefish Bay beat Port, 7-0. Doll took Grace Reimers to the limit at No. 1 singles, losing 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.
At the Bulldog Invite in Cedarburg last Saturday, Port was able to get one match in before rain canceled the rest.
Cedarburg beat Port, 7-0. Hughes at No. 3 singles nearly went the distance with Lauren O’Leary, losing 6-1, 7-6 (8).
Zygowski and Schueller almost went to a third set against Carly O’Leary and Zoe Larson, losing 6-3, 7-6 (2).
Port was scheduled to compete in the Milwaukee South Division 1 subsectional on Monday.
