Port swimmers improve

The result didn’t show it against a tough Homestead High School swimming squad last Thursday, but Port Washington keeps bringing its times down.

About half the of the swims were personal records in the 117-68 loss.

“The girls did very well coming off a big win from last week,” co-coach Dani Peiffer said.

“They are doing a great job of staying focused at practice and pushing themselves at the meets.”

Juniors Abbey Lotz, Josie Tetzlaff and Emma Huber each scored 10 points and won one individual event.

Lotz won the 200-meter freestyle in a personal record 2 minutes, 9.35 seconds. Junior Audyn Setzer was second in 2:13.33.

Tetzlaff won the 100 butterfly by more than three seconds in 1:04.82.

Huber won the 100 freestyle in a personal record 1:00.14. Sophomore Grace Linstroth was second in a personal record 1:02.11.

Huber was second in the 50 freestyle in 27.9.

Lotz was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:53.03.

The 200 freestyle relay of Huber, senior Taylor Peiffer, junior Eva Perez and Lotz was second in 1:54.52.

Tetzlaff was second in the 100 backstroke with a personal record 1:10.71.

The 400 relay of Tetzlaff, Linstroth, Setzer and Lotz took second in 4:03.07, shaving six seconds off last week’s time.

“The girls are doing a great job demonstrating positive attitudes and good sportsmanship at the meets,” co-coach Peiffer said.

Port was to swim at Grafton on Tuesday and host an invite on Saturday.
