A man accused of making videos of himself having sex with a 17-year-old girl in Port Washington last year when he was 19 while he was awaiting sentencing on a second-degree sexual assault of a child conviction in Washington County pleaded guilty last week in Ozaukee County Circuit Court to a felony count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Port Washington resident Brayden E. Mitchell, now 20, also pleaded guilty to felony bail jumping during the Sept. 10 hearing.

Ozaukee County District Attorney Benjamin Lindsay recommended Mitchell be sentenced to five years in prison for his sexual exploitation of a child conviction — the minimum allowed under the law — followed by five years of extended supervision and one year in prison and one year of extended supervision on the bail jumping conviction. Lindsay said he was making no recommendation on whether the sentences should be served consecutively or concurrently.

Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Steve Cain is scheduled to sentence Mitchell on Oct. 21.

Mitchell also faced a second count of sexual exploitation of a child, capturing an intimate representation of a person younger than 18 without consent and four counts of sexual intercourse with a child, all felonies, but those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. They were, however, read into the record, which means Cain can consider the facts surrounding them when sentencing Mitchell.

According to a criminal complaint, the girl and her mother met with an officer at the Port Washington Police Station on Nov. 14, 2025, and told him that the girl had multiple sexual encounters with Mitchell starting in September when she was 17 and he was 19.

The girl said Mitchell made videos of their sexual encounters, including one she didn’t know he was making. She said Mitchell used his phone to record them having sex and sent the videos to her, the complaint states.

A week later, the girl met with another officer and allowed him to view the videos on her phone. The officer noticed that the video the girl said Mitchell made without her knowledge was different than the others because, despite being recorded in low light, the phone’s flashlight was not turned on and the girl did not look at the camera or acknowledge it in any other way, according to the complaint.

The officer determined there were four videos of Mitchell and the girl recorded between Sept. 29 and Oct. 22, all in the same room. The girl said the sexual encounters occurred at her home in Port Washington.

In Washington County, Mitchell, a former West Bend resident, was charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child on Jan. 24, 2025. He was released from custody in lieu of a $5,000 signature bond.

On Sept. 9, Mitchell pleaded guilty to that charge, and on Feb. 23, Washington County Circuit Judge Sandra Giernoth withheld a prison sentence, placed him on probation for 10 years and ordered him to serve a year in jail as a condition of probation.

At the time of his alleged crimes in Ozaukee County, he was subject to the conditions of bail, which included a prohibition against having unsupervised contact with girls younger than 18.

Mitchell has been held in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail since he was charged in the Ozaukee County case on Nov. 26, 2025. During last week’s hearing, Cain revoked his bail.
