Port High robotics team to host annual recycling collection on Saturday

Port Washington High School PiraTech robotics team will host its annual electronics, appliance, textile, scrap metal and bicycle recycling collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in the school parking lot.

There is no fee to drop off laptops, computer CPUs, cell phones, scrap metal, bikes and textiles such as clothing, shoes, belts, purses and fabric. Bikes may be in any condition.

Fees for other items are $5 for stereo equipment, small printers and LCD TVs smaller than 27 inches and $10 for large printers, car batteries and appliances such as microwave ovens, water heaters, ovens, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, air conditioners and dehumidifiers.

Fees for other TVs are $15 for LCDs larger than 27 inches, $30 for plasma or tube TVs smaller than 27 inches and $55 for plasma or tube TVs larger than 27 inches.

Electronics, appliances, textiles and scrap metal will be recycled.

Bikes will be donated to Dream Bikes in Milwaukee, which teaches young people to restore and maintain them.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Port PiraTech, a school and community supported club that designs and builds robots to compete in FIRST Robotics events, and Thomas Jefferson Middle School Lego League teams.
