Port Food Pantry holds raffle for building fund

The Port Washington Food Pantry is selling tickets for a grill donated by Drew’s True Value.

The grill is valued at $1,500, and proceeds from the raffle will go toward the pantry’s building fund.

The drawing will be held on Oct. 10.

Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and may be purchased at the pantry in the basement of the rectory at 1800 N. Wisconsin St. from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays or from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays.

Tickets may also be purchased by calling the pantry at (262) 284-1148.

The pantry is planning to build a new, more accessible facility on the north side of the property, which is owned by St. John XXIII Parish. The building would serve not just as a pantry, but as a community center with a full kitchen where meals can be served and classes can be taught.

Pantry officials hope to begin construction next fall.
