Police searching for man who girl says assaulted her in Port

Port Washington police are seeking a man who sexually assaulted a girl who was walking her dog in the Woods at White Pines subdivision on the city’s west side early in February. 

The girl was walking in the area of Aster Street and Evergreen Terrace when a car pulled up behind her, according to police. 

A man got out of the car and asked her to come to him, but the girl began to run and was eventually caught by the man, who assaulted her under a deck on Evergreen Terrace, police said. The girl then escaped.

The girl reported the incident to the school resource officer, Jason Bergin, about two weeks later, on Feb. 15, police said.

Police are looking for an older man who had a larger body build, grey hair, yellow teeth and blue eyes. He was wearing a red polo shirt and khaki pants and a gold ring on his left hand.

The vehicle is described as a silver or grey four-door that may have bungee cords on the back trunk lid.
