PHOTO OP-ED: The fast changing skyline of Port Washington as seen from Lake Michigan

Booming condominium development has transformed the look of the Port Washington lakefront, which is now dominated by the five-story Newport Shores building (below). Designed by architect Matt Rinka, designer of the 44-story Couture high-rise about to be built on the Milwaukee lakefront, Newport Shores will open in 2022. Besides glass-walled condo living units, two restaurants are planned. It will likely be the second largest building in the city (the WeEnergies power plant is first), but not the tallest. That distinction belongs to the 10-story Lighthouse Condominiums, to the left of Newport Shores in the above photo.  Photos by Bill Schanen IV
