PHOTO OP ED: Beacon turns blue to honor fallen police officer

A blue light has been lit for the past few nights in the tower of the Port Washington Historical Society’s 1860 Light Station on St.Mary’s Hill. The light is in honor of Milwaukee police offer Matthew Rittner, who was killed in the line of duty last week. In the photograph made Monday evening by Ozaukee Press photographer Sam Arendt, the glowing light tower was framed by the flags of Rotary Park, which were standing out in a strong easterly wind that presaged a snowstorm.
