Paul W. McNally

Paul W. McNally, formerly of Fredonia (Little Kohler), passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 77 years old.

Paul was born on Jan. 18, 1947, in Spokane, Wash., to the late Paul and Mary (Moran) McNally.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971.

Paul was always on the go. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting and canoe trips to the Boundary Waters.  He was passionate about his role as a longtime leader in the Boy Scouts of America.  In later years, he participated in French and Indian War reenactments as a surveyor and was often at events giving demonstrations to the public and school groups.

He was active in his parish’s churches — St. Mary’s in Little Kohler, St. Rose in  Fredonia and Divine Savior in Holy Cross, Town of Belgium — where he enjoyed teaching CCD and reading and offering communion at Mass.

Paul was an animal lover. He and his wife Judy operated a cattery for purebred Norwegian forest cats and volunteered for TICA — The International Cat Association. They also had a cat rescue, as they both had a knack for attracting strays.

He retired from selling insurance and investments at MetLife in 2012.

He is survived by his children Colleen (Troy) Jakubowski and Ryan McNally (Melinda Somogyi), his grandson Cameron Jakubowski (Miranda Kobs), his brothers John McNally and Keith (Linda) McNally and sisters Diane Welsh (Jim Dew) and Kathy Karbon, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judith, his son Shawn and his granddaughter Morgan Jakubowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Divine Savior Parish, Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Rd. B, Belgium. The family greeted friends and relatives at the church from 1 p.m. until the Mass.

The family would like to thank Village of Manor Park and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s name may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha or Alzheimer’s Association.
