Panel to discuss art’s relation to environment

An online panel of artists will discuss how art reflects the human relationship to the environment and how it offers resilience and hope in the face of climate change on Thursday, April 6.

The discussion, held in conjunction with the Cedarburg Art Museum’s “Earth, Wind, Fire, Sky: Climate Transformed” exhibit, will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The panel includes artists Helen Klebesadel, Colette Odya Smith, Jan Mirenda Smith, Tori Tasch and guest curator Christine Buth-Furness. Rina Yoon will be represented by Christine Buth-Furness.

Bretta Speck, a professor of environmental science at Concordia University, will discuss the role artists play in environmental education.

The panel will be moderated by Cedarburg Art Museum curator Samantha Michalski.

The audience will be able to ask questions via chat at the end of the discussion.

The museum exhibit will run through May 14.

A closing reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 6.
