Painter is the featured artist at Gallery 224

Painter Kristin Gjerdset is the featured artist for August at Gallery 224 in downtown Port Washington.

Her exhibition features works inspired by a year at the Mequon Nature Preserve through the ArtServancy program.

Gjerdset, who lives in West Allis, said she has spent a significant amount of time at the preserve, even before her residency there, finding it a place to escape to and recharge.

Her art often centers on the small things that people often miss, things that remind her the world is far more complex than she can imagine.

An artist’s reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the gallery, 303 N. Franklin St.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
