Ozaukee girls split a pair of Big East games

The Ozaukee High School girls’ basketball team lost at home to Sheboygan Lutheran last Friday, 74-62.

The Warriors cut a 15-point halftime deficit to eight twice.

Senior Sophie Uhlenberg had 22 points and nine rebounds. Caitlin Weyker had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Evelyn Geis had 10 points and eight rebounds. Natalie Miller had 13 rebounds.

The Warriors on Jan. 25 won at Manitowoc Lutheran, 67-64.

Miller hit a three-pointer to tie the game with three and a half minutes left, then scored a two-pointer to give the Warriors the lead for good.

Gabby Klas made two free throws with 6.7 seconds left to seal the win.

Miller had 22 points, 11 rebounds and five steals.  Weyker had 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Klas had nine points, and her defensive play earned praise from coach Linda Weyker.

Ozaukee, 6-7 in the Big East and 8-10 overall, was to host Howard

Grove (8-5) on Tuesday, play at Kohler (2-11 Big East) on Friday and at Reedsville (4-9) on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Cedar Grove-Belgium lost to Oostburg, 68-34, last Friday, and at St. Mary Catholic, 79-24, on Jan. 25. Alexis Bahr had 14 points against Oostburg.

The Rockets, 4-9 in the Big East, were to host Mishicot on Tuesday, play at Reedsville on Friday and at Howards Grove on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
