Ozaukee’s girls shine in conference relays

Small Warrior boys and CG-Belgium teams struggle with depth

The Ozaukee High School girls’ track and field team raced, threw and leaped to the equivalent of a photo finish for second place at the Big East Conference Relays at Kohler on Monday.

The Warriors scored 64 points, just ahead of Manitowoc Lutheran’s 63.5 and Oostburg’s 62.

Random Lake won the meet with 75 points.

The Lady Warriors won the distance medley relay in 13 minutes, 39.58 seconds and the 800-meter relay in 1:54.41, earning 10 points in each race.

Ozaukee won the discus behind Emma Richards’ throw of 146 feet, 2 inches. Caryn Hamm was third with a throw of 97-11.

It was the same in the shot put. Richards threw a 39-11 for first and Hamm was third with a 33-11.25.

The Warriors got eight points for taking second in the 3,200 relay in 10:42.89.

Cedar Grove-Belgium’s girls scored eight points for 11th place of 13 teams. The 400 relay team took fourth in 1:00.1.

The Rocket boys scored 16 points for 12th place, and Ozaukee was last with 12 points.

The Rockets’ distance medley relay took second in 11:35.36. The 400 relay team took fourth in 47.55.

They didn’t get any points in the long jump relay, but Max Ford took fourth in 19-0.75.

The Warriors next compete at an invite at Kohler on Friday and then at a Hilbert invite on Friday, May 4.

The Rockets next compete on Tuesday, May 8, at Random Lake.
