Oscar Grady Public Library to host authors in June

The Oscar Grady Public Library will host a couple events for June that include presentations from authors.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, author Doug Bradley will present “We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War.”

The presentation identifies popular music during the war, and explores how and why U.S. troops turned to music as a way to connect with the world back home and cope with the complexities of war.

Bradley is a veteran of the Vietnam War and wrote the book “DEROS Vietnam: Dispatches from the Air-Conditioned Jungle,” and co-authored “We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War,” which was named Best Music Book of 2015 by Rolling Stone magazine.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, June 21, author Chad Lewis will give a presentation to the summer reading program.

He wrote the book “The Wisconsin Road Guide to Haunted Locations” and will discuss Wisconsin’s paranormal attractions that include: haunted bars, bed and breakfasts, bridges, campgrounds, cemeteries, churches, fire stations, hotels, lighthouses, mansions, parks, railroad tracks, roads, schoolhouses, stores and theatres.
