Ozaukee High School’s homecoming festivities will not include a dance this year due to concerns with the Covid-19 virus.
However, there will be other activities, culminating in an “OZlympics” from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, on the school athletic fields.
Activities will include kickball, dodgeball, bags, spikeball and an inflatable obstacle course in which classes will compete against each other.
There will also be individual prizes for the bags tournament, OHS Principal Mike Leach said in a letter to parents and students.
Students will be able to bring guests to the event with permission from their parents or guardians.
Other homecoming week activities include hallway decorating, boys’ soccer Tuesday, Oct. 6, against Oostburg; powder puff football and macho volleyball Wednesday, Oct. 7; a pep rally Thursday, Oct. 8; plus cross country at Tendick Park, boys’ soccer against St. Mary’s and girls’ volleyball against Sheboygan Lutheran.
The homecoming football game against Oostburg will be Friday, Oct. 9.
Leach cautioned students that social distancing will not be possible during many of the activities and requested that all participants wear masks.
