Numbers are on Grafton’s side
Davis pinned Brett Wittmann of Kimberly in 1:53 for the title. Earlier, he won an 8-1 decision over Mason Smith of Sun Prairie, pinned Max Carpenter of Appleton North in 37 seconds and pinned Alex Chiavetta of Oakfield in 41 seconds.
Rapp lost the title match, 6-4, in overtime to Kevin Pollack of Greenfield. Earlier in the day, he pinned Jake Thiel of Appleton North in 46 seconds, pinned Logan Kubetz of Kewaunee in 1:36, pinned Bruce Anschutz of Sturgeon Bay in 1:16 and pinned Brendan Hartwig of Oakfield in 1:03.
Case at 195 lost the title by a 10-2 major decision to Brock Danielski of Appleton North. Case won a 3-2 decision over Alex Haug of Sun Prairie and pinned Owen Apland of Princeton in 5:41.
On Nov. 30, the Hawks lost, 50-30, at Homestead. They gave up seven forfeits. Of the matches wrestled, Grafton went 2-2. Rapp and Davis each earned pins.
This week, Dodge said a couple of wrestlers come back and can get down to weight. Grafton hosts West Bend West on Thursday and wrestles in a Cedarburg tournament on Saturday.
“Our mentality is we’re taking each tournament one at a time. They’re stepping stones. We’re working to get better every time we’re on the mat.,” Dodge said.
“We’re happy with the wrestlers we have. They work hard every day. One of our goals is to just do that and improve.”
