NOSD gets $133,360 for technology
The Northern Ozaukee School District will continue to upgrade technology for students and staff after receiving a $133,360 grant from the Bruce Krier Foundation.
The grant will be used to purchase 135 new Lenovo laptops for staff and labs, nine LG screens to be installed in elementary school classrooms and five new SMART panels to replace older SMART boards in the district.
District Supt. Dave Karrels said that while the district annually allocates budgeted funds for technology improvements each year, funding from the Bruce Krier Foundation has enabled the district to go above and beyond what it would be otherwise able to provide students and staff.
“We’re just really humbled and grateful for all the support they’ve provided our district,” he said.
This is the fifth consecutive year NOSD has received a grant through the Bruce Krier Foundation, giving the district a total of $743,660 in funding.
Grant awards in previous years have helped the district implement a number of technology advancements.
In 2017, additional iPads were purchased, lab computers and laptops were updated and staff laptops throughout the district were replaced.
In 2018, the B. Bruce Krier Innovation Room was built, 200 Google Chromebooks were purchased and wireless infrastructure upgrades were made.
In 2019, the grant helped create the B. Bruce Krier Library Media Center.
In 2020, workspaces and technology were upgraded in the Ozaukee Elementary School Library Media Center.
“Thank you so much to the Bruce Krier Foundation and all the staff involved in this grant process. Congratulations on an awesome accomplishment for our District,” Karrels stated in a press release announcing the latest award.
