No surprises in village, town, school elections

There were no surprises when last week’s Grafton election results were announced Monday.

In the Village Board election, three candidates ran unopposed for trustee posts. Newcomers Amy Luft and Dan Delorit received the most votes with 2,400 and 2,319, respectively, followed by incumbent  Lisa Uribe Harbeck, who had 2,281.

Incumbent trustees Susan Meinecke and David Liss did not seek re-election. 

Meinecke, who had served on the board since 2007, had been at odds with village officials over matters related to open-records requests and her 2018 election bid.  

Liss, who has been a trustee since 2006, said he did not seek re-election because of work obligations.

A total of 4,099 village residents voted.

In the Grafton Town Board election, two incumbents were unopposed. Supervisors Tom Grabow received 1,067 votes and Tom Sykora got 1,055.

A total of 1,781 town residents voted.

Village trustees and town supervisors serve two-year terms.

Three incumbents were unopposed in the  Grafton School Board election. President Paul Lorge received 3,238 votes, followed by members Carrie Walls and Steve Nauta with 3,123 and 3,041, respectively.

School Board members serve three-year terms.
