No injuries in Monday’s facility fire
Nobody was injured but residents and staff members were displaced from an assisted living facility group home after it caught fire on Monday, according to a press release from the Belgium Fire Department.
A report of smoke coming from the facility at 244 S. Royal Ave. came in just after 5 p.m.
The first engine crew deployed two ground ladders and did an initial attack on the fire, which was in the attic on the southwest corner of the residence.
The incident got upgraded to a first alarm, bringing in resources from other area departments.
Just before 6 p.m., the fire was upgraded to a second alarm but that was canceled 10 minutes later when crews were able to get the fire under control.
