Music and money advice

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School last week hosted Carter Hulsey, an alternative rock/Americana singer-songwriter from Nashville who is a part of Funding the Future, a nonprofit organization that teaches teens financial principles through musical performances and money management discussions. The organization’s Financial Literacy Tour has reached more than 200,000 students in the U.S. and Canada. “The students seemed to like it,” high school business education teacher Landa Paradise said. “They appreciated the music and learning something so relevant in an entertaining way. All students are required to take personal finance and the discussion after the concert really expanded on what students learn in that class. The entertainer who led the discussion did a great job connecting with students.” For more information, visit www.fundingthefuturelive.org.       Photo by Sam Arendt
