Mother Nature shines on Moonlight Meltdown

Nearly 260 runners participated in the Snowrunners LTD snowmobile club’s annual fundraiser Moonlight Meltdown on Saturday. Colton Ortner of Rosendale won the Sunset Safari 10-kilometer hybrid/crossover trail run in 39 minutes, 6.78 seconds. Paulina Fote of Port Washington won the 10k race in 38:25.21, and Trevor Will of Mequon won the 5k race in 17:21.06. “It was another successful event with beautiful weather,” Snowrunners LTD member Kent Schuller said. Proceeds will be split between the club and the Belgium and Cedar Grove fire departments. The club’s biggest annual fundraising event came on the heels of a terrible snowmobile season. Ozaukee County’s trails never opened due to a lack of snow or unsafe conditions. “Hopefully, Mother Nature helps out with more snow earlier in the season instead of March as this year turned out,” Schueller said.
