Morris, Rockets beat Kohler in hoops

Rough outside shooting didn’t slow down the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School girls’ basketball team against Kohler on Jan. 3.

The Rockets went 0-for-15 on three-pointers in the second half but still cruised to a 65-47 win.

Rocket Katelyn Morris led the team with 18 points and went 8-for-16 from the field. She also had six rebounds.

“Katelyn played a great game both offensively and defensively,” coach Mike “Bik” Bikman said.

Alexis Bahr suffered an ankle injury in the first half but came back in the second and “played really nice in getting 14 points,” Bik said. Olivia Bahr had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sophie Beightol had 10 rebounds and five points. Tara Schmitz had eight rebounds and eight points. Aubrey Marti had seven rebounds.

Isabel Wichman led Kohler with 15 points.

“They are scrappy. Kohler never gave up,” Bik said.

The Rockets, 7-5 overall and 4-4 in the Big East Conference, played at Hilbert on Tuesday, Jan. 10, play at Random Lake on Friday, Jan. 13, and host Sheboygan Falls on Monday, Jan. 16.
