Michel continues to glide through the water

One thing has been consistent for the Grafton High School girls’ swim team this season: Libby Michel’s success.

The senior won the 100-yard individual medley in 1 minute. 1.04 seconds in the Sprint Invitational at Nicolet last Saturday, and she was second in the 50 butterfly in 27.59 seconds.

The Hawks 200 freestyle relay of Trinity Kreckel, Anna Krol, Mia Bowen and Kylee Grimm won in 1:48.96.

The Hawks’ 500 freestyle relay of Hannah Gompper, Krol, Maya Luening and Katie O’Brien was fourth in 5:38.05.

Lola Michel was sixth in the 200 freestyle in 2:12.27.

Grimm was seventh in the 50 butterfly in 30.4. Michel was seventh in the 50 backstroke in 33.32, and Grimm was eighth in 33.37.

The 400 medley relay of Grimm, Gompper, Sophie Schumaker and Elaina Pokorsky was fifth in 4:23.83.

Grafton scored 238 points and finished fourth of eight teams. Germantown won with 552 points, followed by Whitefish Bay, 361; and Nicolet, 297.

Against Hartford/Slinger Co-op last Thursday at home, Michel won the 200 individual medley in 2:10.23 and the 100 butterfly in 1:00.68.

Pokorsky won the 100 breaststroke.

Kylee Grimm was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:12.55.

The 400 freestyle relay of Gompper, Sophie Schumaker, Grimm and Krol was second in 4:24.07, and the 200 freestyle relay of Bowen, Lola Michel, Kleckner and Libby Michel was second in 1:54.5.

The Hawks lost the dual meet, 210-103.

Grafton swam at Port Washington Tuesday, Sept. 13. The Hawks host the North Shore Conference Relays on Thursday, Sept. 22. Diving starts at 4 p.m. with swimming at 6 p.m.
