Melissa Ahsmann

Melissa Ahsmann of Port Washington passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Mount Pleasant early Monday morning, Aug. 25, 2025. She was 52 years old.
Melissa was born in Port on Oct. 3, 1972, the fourth daughter of Douglas and Ardyce “Ardy” (nee Mathisen) Ahsmann.
She attended local schools, graduating from Port Washington High School in 1992. She later earned a tech certificate at Moraine Park Technical College.
Growing up, Melissa was a Scout for years and often accompanied her mother on Girl Scout troop events. She loved all outdoor activities, especially canoeing and fishing, and raising butterflies with her mom at their home. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing and was a member of her church choir for many years.
She loved working with children and had spent time volunteering at Dunwiddie Elementary School, Riveredge Nature Center and Harbor Club. She was also an avid animal lover and had many beloved pets throughout her life.
Melissa was proud to put her education to work, and had been employed in the screen printing industry for several years.
Survivors include her mother Ardy Ahsmann and sisters Maren (Thomas) Finnegan of Palatine, Ill., Merrie (Todd) Schamberger of Neenah and Marcia (James) Trotchie of Port Washington. She is further survived by nieces and nephews Kyle, Maggie, Adam and Molly, great-nephew Auggie, aunts Lois (Wayne) Champagne and Carol (the late Jack) Ahsmann, numerous cousins and many friends, especially her lifelong best friend Heather.
Melissa was preceded in death by her father Doug and her loving partner of many years Lyle Quaas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over the Mass. The family will receive guests at the church on Friday, Sept. 5, from 4:30 p.m. until Mass begins at 5:30 p.m.
Melissa will be laid to rest beside her father the next day at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.
