They’re not related, despite having the exact same names and living about 15 miles from each other.

Port Washington and Cedar Grove-Belgium high schools both have a senior named Austin Knapp.

The two met in a fall baseball league.

“They mixed up our numbers and names,” Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Knapp said.

“It was a little bit confusing. I’m not going to lie,” Port Washington’s Knapp said.

Both are standout athletes in multiple sports.

Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Knapp was an all-conference pitcher and infielder on last season’s Division 3 state championship baseball team, playing second base and closing out both the semifinal and final as a reliever. He has also earned all-conference honors in football as a linebacker, and he is one of the Rockets top running backs this season.

Port’s Knapp also plays linebacker and has earned praise for his play this season. He was also a key member of the Pirates’ wrestling team that qualified for team state, pinning his opponent at 150 pounds in the state quarterfinal.
