McLarty chosen to fill vacancy on Village Board
The Fredonia Village Board last week elected Willliam McLarty to be its newest member.
McLarty was one of five applicants for the position and was elected after three rounds of secret balloting on a 4-2 vote. Former Trustee Rudy McCormick, who lost his re-election bid in April, came in second.
McLarty, a machine shop supervisor at Carlson Tool and Manufacturing in Cedarburg, replaces Neil Wagner, who filed papers of non-candidacy before the April 2017 election but was nevertheless re-elected by write-in. He resigned in May for health reasons, officials said.
McLarty will fill out the rest of Wagner’s term, which ends in April 2019.
McLarty, 425 Emerald Hills Drive, described himself as someone “fairly new” to Fredonia who could bring a fresh perspective to issues facing the community.
His children attend Northern Ozaukee School District and he is a volunteer teacher at American TaeKwonDo Center in Fredonia.
McLarty is expected to serve on the village’s Utilities Committee.
