Mary Ann Paulin

Mary Ann Paulin of Port Washington went to be with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Harbor Campus. She was 93 years old.

She was born on July 13, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank and Marie (Schmit) Solger.

She grew up and attended school in Chicago. She attended Lake View High School and graduated with the Class of 1948.

After high school, Mary Ann went on to pursue a career in nursing, attending Saint Elizabeth Hospital of Nursing in Chicago, where she received her R.N. degree in 1951.

On Sept. 8, 1951, she married the love of her life, Russell C. Paulin, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. They spent 63 years together.

Mary Ann’s passion for caring led her to become a registered nurse, dedicating her life to the health care industry. She worked tirelessly at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington, providing comfort and support to those in need. Her nurturing nature and kind-heartedness touched the lives of many.

Beyond her medical career, Mary Ann found joy in various hobbies and activities. She found solace in reading mysteries and drama novels, creating beautiful crochet pieces and delighting in her skill as a seamstress, making her own clothing and window treatments with great pride.

She cherished family camping trips, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.

Mary Ann had a knack for thrifting and was an avid collector of clocks of all types.

She was an active member of the Neighborhood Breakfast Club and Homemakers Club, where she formed cherished bonds with fellow community members.

She made it a priority to stay in touch with her childhood friends in Chicago, always keeping their connection alive.

Mary Ann’s love extended to her furry companions, her dachshunds Gertrude, Hilda and Spike, who brought immense joy to her life.

She will be deeply missed by her children David, Steven, Daniel (Karla Lunde), James (Mary) and Amy (Bob) Boehm and her grandchildren Ryan (Katie Peters) Paulin, Tami (Mike) Grittner, Katie (Morgan) Herrick, Kevin Paulin, Holly (Ryan) Greene, Megan (Justin) Fix, Johnathan Boehm and Alex (Jesy Spence) Boehm, as well as by her 14 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Estelle Paulin, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell, who passed away in 2015, son Jeffrey, brothers James Solger and William (Liz) Solger, sister Margaret (Gerrit) Bles and brothers-in-law Gerald (Donna) Paulin and Lyle Paulin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at noon at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over the Mass. The family will greet family and friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mary Ann will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington at a later date.

The family would like to thank Harbor Campus, Father Pat of St. Peter’s Churchand Heartland Hospice for all their care of their mother Mary Ann.
