Mary Alice “Sally” Krier
PAID OBITUARY
Mary Alice “Sally” Krier, age 95, a resident of Sugar Camp and formerly of Belgium, Pickerel, Merrill and Rhinelander, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
Sally was born on Dec. 29, 1922, in Wausau to Louis and Catherine Podruch.
She was nicknamed “Sally” by her brothers.
She was a proud graduate of Mount Mary College in 1944 with a degree in home economics. She taught home economics and grade school at Green Bay Vocational School and in Belgium and Wabeno. She also taught adult sewing classes at Port Washington Vocational School.
Sally was married to the love of her life, John Krier, on Aug. 3, 1946, in Wausau.
She was an avid reader and seamstress.
She sewed clothing for her family.
Later she learned to quilt, which was her passion for 40 years.
Sally took up golf in her 50s and continued to enjoy the links until age 82.
She was also a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, and she loved chocolate and to play cards.
She especially liked to play sheepshead and gin rummy with her family.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband John W. Krier in 1990, her parents, brothers, son-in-law Bruce A. Albert and baby girl Alison Mary at birth.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia (Dan) Zernia of Sugar Camp, Jane Krier of Kenosha and Barbara (Dennis) Schmidt; son John (Kelly) Krier Jr. of Colfax, Calif.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 8, 2018, at St. Kungunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Pickerel following services.
Arrangements are being handled by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River.
