Marie V. Broecker

PAID OBITUARY

Marie V. Broecker (nee Straus), formerly Uselding, passed away at Forest Haven in Fredonia on Monday, April 30, 2018.  She was 93 years old.  

Marie was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in the Town of Belgium. She was the youngest and last surviving of eight children of Lawrence and Mary (nee Schmidt) Straus.  

Marie is survived by her children Eileen (Daniel) Bittner of Fredonia and James (Sharlene) Uselding of Fredonia; daughter-in-law Pam Plier (Uselding); grandchildren Chrissy (Tom), Bob (Brandi), Jayne, Mike (Jamie), Brenda (Scott), Becky (Brad), April (Marshall), Kimberly (Trevor), Jennifer and Christopher (Maggie); 17 great-grandchildren; seven stepchildren; and many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.  

She is further survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her first husband Edward Uselding, son Gerald Uselding, three infant children, seven siblings and their spouses and second husband Raymond Broecker.

A funeral service for Marie was held at noon Friday, May 4, 2018, at at Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 North Royal Ave., Belgium. Father James Ernster officiated.

Marie was laid to rest next to her first husband Edward at St. Mary Lake Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
