Margaret K. Medinger

Persnickety and yet so generous, Margaret Katherine “Marge” “Bootsie” Medinger (Metz) of Cedar Grove passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center a bit short of her goal to live 100 years.

Margaret was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Brown Deer to Mathias Sr. and Hildegarde Metz.

She attended Cedarburg High School and later earned her GED in 1978.

On May 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harvey Medinger Sr. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg.

Margaret was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Random Lake.

In addition to raising eight children, Margaret was employed at various times at Rainbow Springs Country Club, Krier Foods, Sprague Electric, Lasata Nursing Home and H&R Block and as a secret shopper.

She and Harvey travelled to many states and countries, and her favorite place was Iceland.

She enjoyed reading many newspapers, working on crossword puzzles, bird watching and sending greeting cards. In addition to commemorating birthdays and anniversaries, she cherished celebrating unusual holidays like Groundhog Day.

Margaret is survived by her children Fred (Kellie) of Random Lake, Harvey Jr. (Janet) of Browntown, Joe (Jean) of Sheboygan, Phil (LuAnn) of Sheboygan, Tony (Shelley) of Adell and Mari (Keith) Falk of Plymouth; foster daughter Johnnie Mae (Edward) Thurmond of Lexington, Miss.; and special friends Keith and Terry Chipman and Alice Brill of Cedar Grove.

She is further survived by 30 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, her sister Barbara Winter of West Bend, brother Walter (Gwen) Metz of Cedarburg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harvey Sr., sons Gerald and Louis, infant daughter Mary Barbara, infant grandchildren and great-grandchildren Mandy May and Trevor, brothers Joseph Metz and Mathias Jr. (Karen) Metz and siblings-in-law Eldred Winter, Elmer Medinger, Elsie (Norbert) Koch and LaVerne (Robert) Shupe.

A celebration of life will be held May 14, 2022, at Circle B Recreation, 6261 Hwy. 60, Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will begin greeting visitors at 11:30 a.m. followed by readings, remembrances, music and fellowship at 1 p.m. If possible, wear bright colors in honor of Margaret.

She will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Adell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Random Lake Interfaith Food Pantry or a charity of the donor’s choice.
