Margaret A. ‘Marge’ Rabuck

Marge Rabuck, 83, of Port Washington peacefully passed away on Aug. 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 12, 1941, to Margaret M. Sampont (nee Olinger) and Walter O. Sampont, Marge was raised on a farm in the Town of Port Washington.

She attended Catholic school and graduated from Port Washington High School with the Class of 1959.

After graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where she met and married her first husband, Lonnie F. Moorehead, in South Carolina.

Marge received an honorable discharge in 1960 and the couple relocated to Wisconsin to start their life.

After the unexpected death of Lonnie in 1965, Marge met and married her second husband, Larry Rabuck. They remained married until his untimely death in 1998.

While raising her young family in Fredonia, Marge stayed active in her community. She taught CCD classes for St. Rose of Lima Church and was a leader in the Waubeka 4-H Club for many years. Marge also played the French horn and trumpet in the Port Washington City Band.

In later years, Marge became an avid reader and was known as the “bookworm.” Besides reading, there wasn’t a Sunday during football season you couldn’t find her cheering on the Packers.

Marge will be fondly remembered for signing her phone calls off with “love you, and all that good stuff.”

Marge’s memory will be cherished by her children Barb (Bob) Fuhrman, Lonnie (Michelle) Moorehead and Leon Rabuck.  She also loved and adored her seven grandchildren, Christopher (Lana) Fuhrman, Elizabeth (fiance Brian Honness), Veronica (Jesus) Ocampo, Tiffani (Bacos) Torin, Lauren (Jordan) Ruege, Kirsten Rabuck and Jane Rabuck. Marge was also honored to be great-grandmother to Micah George Fuhrman.

She is further survived by her brother John (Mary) Sampont, brother-in-law James (the late Mary) Moorehead, sister-in-law Illa (the late Bob) Reed and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by husbands Lonnie F. Moorehead and Larry Rabuck, son Brian Moorehead and sister Mary (the late Robert) Monday.

Marge’s family greeted relatives and friends at St. John’s XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St. in Port Washington on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marge was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. John’s XXIII in Port Washington.

Marge will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery in LaValle, Wis.

Signing off, “Love you mom, and all that good stuff.”

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local library, 4-H Club of your choice or St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, where Marge was a member.

Special thanks to Harbor Club and Carla Kostecki for their help and compassion over the many years Marge resided there as well as the staff at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.
