Man finds stranger in his house eating cereal

A Port Washington man got the surprise of his life Sunday, July 25, when he woke up shortly after 4 a.m. to find a stranger eating cereal in his kitchen, police reported.

The man asked the stranger to leave, and once he left the residence in the 200 block of North Spring Street, the homeowner called police. An officer saw the stranger on the street and questioned him about the incident.

The 41-year-old Port resident apologized to police, who issued him a citation for disorderly conduct.

Police did not say whether the doors to the home were locked at the time.

A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was cited for theft after he took a “Danger Cliff” sign from near the Upper Lake Park bluff about 6:30 p.m. July 25.

People who witnessed the incident called police, giving them the man’s license plate number. An officer called the man, who admitted to taking the sign, and he later returned the sign to the park.

On July 31, a 29-year-old Arizona man was cited for disorderly conduct, trespassing and theft of private property after he took a cell phone that didn’t belong to him from Rascal’s at about 8:30 p.m.

The man also tried to enter multiple residences, police said.

A 61-year-old man was found sleeping on the ground next to his bike near East Norport Drive and North Wisconsin Street at about 5 a.m. July 20.

The man smelled of alcohol, which violated his bail restrictions, and he refused a preliminary breath test, police said. He was released, but his probation agent was notified of the incident.

Police were called to the 400 block of Lake Street about 6 p.m. July 11 after someone found bones in the area. Officers determined they were deer bones.

A person living in the 1300 block of West Sunset Road accidentally shot himself in the knee while cleaning his handgun at about 2:50 p.m July 17.
