Man arrested for brandishing gun
A Port Washington man was arrested last week after he brandished a gun toward another driver during a “road rage” incident in Port, according to an Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
According to the report, the man, who is not being named because has not been charged, told police he had just exited northbound I-43 onto eastbound Highway 32 at about 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, where there were several cars bunched up, one of which tailgated him.
The tailgating car passed and both men made an obscene gesture toward each other.
After he passed, the driver of the passing car told police he saw in his rearview mirror the Port man waving a handgun at him.
Ozaukee County Sheriff’s deputies and Port Washington police officers responded and the Port man was located by Port police on Highway KK north of Spring Street.
He was pulled over by officers with guns drawn, including at least one rifle.
The man admitted he waved a gun at the other driver. He told police he had one drink. A preliminary breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.019, less than the legal limit of 0.08.
He also told police he does not have a concealed carry permit for the .44 handgun, which he waved at the other driver.
He was arrested on suspicion of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
