Making way for Kwik Trip

The former How-Dea Service Center has been razed to make room for a Kwik Trip at 106 N. Royal Avenue. Kwik Trip bought the property with plans to tear down the building and put up its own store with 10 fuel dispensers, including four lanes for diesel fuel, a truck scale, car wash and about 41 parking stalls. The store will be open 24 hours per day and sell produce, bakery, food, groceries and other convenience store merchandise. It would be the closest thing Belgium has to a grocery store since its only market on South Royal Avenue closed years ago. Kwik Trip held job fairs at Village Hall in January and February with plans to hire 25 to 30 people. The company is based in La Crosse and has more than 800 stores.         Photo by Sam Arendt
